CHAPTER 10: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29th << 135 | 136 | 137 >> “I grab it, before that Captain picks up all that other stuff.” That made sense, but I still had to say it, “We could go to jail for this. You know that, right?” “True,” the Cat said thoughtfully, “but I’d get worse. I’d end up back here, and Frankie will not be happy. I’ll be lucky to survive the week.” I remembered the bloody bag, the screaming mouse, and that made me mad. “Don’t worry. No one’s gonna hurt you. Not if I have anything to say about it.” “Thank you,” she said, and then went on about how it took her two weeks to learn how to use her claws to type. At first, she kept hitting two, three keys at a time. “The lock on my cage was easier to deal with than this shit,” she com- plained, but then found out about the on-screen keyboard and used that instead. After that got tiring, though, she decided it was time to bite the bullet and learn how to type with her paws. “It was grueling, but I finally did it, and all in two weeks. Is that good?” “How many words a minute can you type?” “I'm not sure. Let's see,” She set a timer and started typing. Even before half a minute had passed, she’d already typed over forty words, but as I started reading it, “What the hell is this?!” I read out loud some of what she’d written, “'All humans must die.' What the hell is that all about?” “It's true. But, I'm going to have to stop there and promise to tell you the rest of it tomorrow.” “What!” I protested, “You can't just leave something like that up in the air.” “I can, and I will. Get out of here right now,” she looked at me men- acingly, and then I remembered what she’d written, “All humans must die.” I looked at the clock, and she was right anyway. I was five minutes over my time limit, and once again, I was running to catch up, and once again the day dragged on like molasses trying to go up hill, but it wasn’t even trying today. It just sat there, and the clock didn’t even move for what seemed like an hour. << 135 | 136 | 137 >> CHAPTER 10: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29th
